Getting things done… and not.

david allen's getting things donePart I - Getting things done:
In my spare time, I’ve been reading a great book by David Allen titled Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity [amazon.com]. I always enjoy books of this type. The book emphasizes taking the load of your current burdens off of your mind and putting them into a system of trust that you can go back to later, allowing you to focus on the task you want to complete. I’m about halfway through it and highly recommend it to anyone interested in increasing personal organization and efficiency, both professionally and personally.

Part II - Not getting things done:
About the same time I started reading the book (yesterday), I made the mistake of purchasing Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. David Allen would not approve. I didn’t really see the appeal of the game when I originally tried the demo. However, I’ve heard nothing but good reviews from websites and friends (thanks ‘boogi.) So, what the heck, I spent the $5 (or 400 Marketplace Points) for the game. Now, I’m hooked. Badly hooked. What makes it worse is I’m horrendous at the game, which makes me want to spend more time to get better. Which is NOT making me more productive. Plus, elam and ‘boogi both have higher scores than I do. I’m resigned to the fact that I won’t beat their scores, let alone break 250,000. But that doesn’t mean I won’t keep trying. If this icon the icon of lifeis the furthest left of the five on my gamercard (on my sidebar ->), that means that it was the last thing I was playing.

Anyone want to buy a lightly used copy of Getting Things Done? I’m keeping the 360.

best game EVAR?
