Greetings from MacBook land
Just wanted to write a quick post from my brand new MacBook (white, thanks for commenting late emonster…)
Testing the battery life as we speak.
Installed some goodies. Gonna install BootCamp later tonight.
Took some pictures, but I’m too lazy to connect my digicam so you’ll have to wait until tomorrow.
Let me just say right now that the new keyboard is AMAZING. It was probably the biggest deal for me, but after trying it out (and typing this post now), it feels great. The keys make a satisfying noise and have good travel.
Also, the other big thing: the glossy screen. Haven’t tested it in many situations, but using the fluorescent light at my desk and normal incandescent light in my room, glare doesn’t seem to be a problem.
I’m a little disappointed in the viewing angle, but screen brightness is great. I have it on the lowest setting at the moment and it is comfortably bright.
World of Warcraft seems slow, but that is to be expected with the GMA950 integrated graphics. With all settings set to low except for terrain distance set to 2-3 notches above lowest, the game is playable but not really satisfactory.
Wireless reception is amazing. My PowerBook G4 1.25 GHz (AlBook) saw 3 wireless networks. My new MacBook sees 13-15 in the same area. Unbelievable.
At any rate, it seems if you don’t need a powerful graphics card and don’t mind the glossy screen (so far, I haven’t run into any problems), I think the MacBook is a great buy. Even the black one, if you feel so inclined.
More soon…
